『Sliding Away』＠ハノーファー州立劇場

岡田利規が、ドイツ・ハノーファー州立劇場の新作レパートリー作品『Sliding Away』の作・演出を務めます。
ミュンヘン・カンマーシュピーレ、ハンブルク・タリア劇場、デュッセルドルフ・シャウシュピールハウスに続く、ドイツ語圏公立劇場のレパートリー作品として、初となるハノーファー州立劇場での創作に挑みます。

ハノーファー州立劇場による作品紹介
終末的な時代には、モンスターがはびこる。彼らは危機の象徴となり、破滅の音を奏でながら我々の周りを舞い踊る。例えばゾンビ――蘇った死者が群れをなして町や村を襲撃したり、恐怖に震える無辜の人々を車の中に追い詰めたりする。ウイルスや細菌によって変異した、人間に似ているが魂を持たない存在たちは、その恐ろしい姿によって、人間性を脅かされた規範として構築する。『The Last of Us』や『The Walking Dead』といったシリーズは、私たちがアンデッドの生命に対して抱き続ける魅惑を、印象的に物語っている。

岡田は新作でこの構図を逆転させる。もし問題の根源がゾンビではなく、私たち人間自身だったとしたら？何が「正常」で、何が「存在意義」を持つのかを決めるのは誰なのか？そして、ゾンビには本当に魂がないのだろうか？

5体のゾンビが、自分たちに押し付けられた固定観念に立ち向かい、人間によって作り上げられた外部からのイメージを正すべく、対抗する物語を紡ぎ出そうとしている。それには、自分たちでゾンビ映画を作るのが一番だろう。「ゾンビによる、ゾンビのための、ゾンビの映画」を！なかなか撮影が進まないこの現場では、表現と（非）人間性について、二層的な意味を持ち、不条理かつ知的な対話が繰り広げられる。それはゾンビ・コメディとしての可能性を秘めている。

"Sliding Away" at Schauspiel, Hannover

Toshiki Okada will write and direct a new production, “Sliding Away,” as part of the repertoire at Schauspiel Hannover. It will mark his first collaboration with the theatre, following his previous work at Münchner Kammerspiele, Thalia Theater, and Düsseldorfer Schauspielhaus.

Production Introduction by the Staatstheater Hannover
In apocalyptic times, monsters thrive. They become the symbol of crisis, dancing the soundtrack of doom. Zombies, for example—the undead brought back to life, swarming through towns and villages or trapping terrified innocents in their cars. Humanoid yet soulless beings, mutated by viruses or bacteria, construct humanity as a threatened norm with their chilling horror. Series like "The Last of Us" or "The Walking Dead" vividly demonstrate our enduring fascination with the undead.

In his new play, Toshiki turns the tables: What if the problem isn't the zombies, but us—humans? After all, who decides what is normal and justifiable? And do zombies truly lack souls? Five zombies challenge the rigid framework of their perceived nature and work on a counter-narrative, aiming to correct the human-made image of them. And what better way to do this than with their own zombie film? A film “with zombies, by zombies, for zombies”! On the set of this slow-starting shoot, a double-edged, absurd, and clever dialogue unfolds about representation and (in)humanity, with the potential to become a zombie comedy.
